When Dave Bautista says he's done with the MCU, he means it. The wrestler-turned-actor, who has played Drax the Destroyer across three separate franchises within Marvel's expansive superhero universe, recently announced that the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be his swansong, and that nothing can tempt him back.

"We all had those perfect character arcs and such a storybook ending," he told Jimmy Fallon. "I constantly relate it to the way I ended my wrestling career. I ended it on a storybook note. And I would never go back and tarnish that. And it’s the same with this... With Drax, I just got to end the perfect way. And I would never sign up for another job as Drax just to get a paycheck. I would tarnish that, and I won’t do it."

"This is my seventh film as Drax," he added. "And my third Guardians. It was like our trilogy. That's kind of what we all signed up for, to do a trilogy. And I think this will be the last version of our Guardians of the Galaxy."

In addition to the Guardians trilogy, Bautista played Drax in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as in the Disney+ series I Am Groot and the Guardians holiday special. So it's not exactly surprising that he's ready to embrace new challenges. He can currently be seen in M. Night Shyamalan's new horror movie Knock at the Cabin, and will reprise the role of Glossu Rabban Harkonnen in Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two this October.

But despite his impressive work in action, science fiction, horror and even comedy, there's one genre Bautista is still eager to explore:

"I've never had an offer to do a rom-com," he recently told Page Six. "I still have high hopes."
