Daredevil: Born Again Is At “Year Zero”

The progress of the rebooted Daredevil TV show is coming along very slowly, with the new directors confirming they’re only at the research stage.

Marvel’s Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead took over the project earlier this year and have confirmed they’re pretty much starting from scratch.

Having just finished the finale of Loki Season 2, Moorhead said they’ve only just sat down in the new office and were working through the hit Netflix show, which the streaming company cancelled in November 2018, after three seasons.

“It is day zero,” Moorhead told The Wrap. “We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”

Disney had completed production of less than half of the 18 episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, with star Charlie Cox returning to play the blind crimefighter. But during the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes, it decided to change creative direction and bring in Moorhead and Benson to take control of the project. That involves more filming on top of the episodes already in the can, as well as finishing the rest of the series.

Before Daredevil: Born Again, Moorhead and Benson have worked on the first series of Moonknight, and then as the primary directors of Loki Season 2.

Charlie Cox has already returned as Daredevil in Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and he’s set to feature in the upcoming series Echo, which debuts January 10, 2024. Also returning for Daredevil: Born Again is Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, who plays a major role in Echo too. There’s going to be a lot going on in Hell’s Kitchen when Daredevil: Born Again eventually arrives.
