Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson calls out Fort Worth’s Mattie Parker over TCU-SMU football game

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson jumped into the trash talk between TCU and SMU with a playoff shot at Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker ahead of Saturday’s game between the two rivals.
It all started with a quote with TCU captain Steve Avila.
“It’s Dallas vs. Fort Worth, that’s how I see it,” Avila said to the media Tuesday.
Once the comment started making the rounds on Twitter, that’s when Johnson chimed in.
“That’s how I see it, too. And I’ll be at the game to watch my SMU boys defend our crown as the best college football team in the Metroplex,” Johnson tweeted. He wasn’t done there as he couldn’t resist trying to get Mayor Parker in the mix.

“Will (Mayor Mattie be there to cheer on (TCU)? I hope so! She already has an SMU jersey to wear, courtesy of yours truly!” Johnson said.
Parker has yet to respond to Johnson’s challenge. One TCU fan replied on Twitter with a theory of why that’s the case.
“I think our mayor is actually doing things to help the city at the moment,” one fan responded.
You can add Johnson’s tweet to the lengthy list of reasons why TCU fans are hopeful the Horned Frogs can snap the two-game losing streak to their crosstown rivals.
A year ago a challenge between the two mayors resulted in Johnson gifting Parker a SMU jersey after the Mustangs beat the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.
