Much to the delight of at least one NASCAR legend, FOX Sports announced on Wednesday that Larry McReynolds will return to the broadcast booth for this Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Race at Dover.

Shortly after FOX Sports made this announcement, Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed that he’s excited to hear what McReynolds has to say this weekend.

“Exactly what I had long hoped for,” Earnhardt tweeted. “Every booth needs a crew chief who’s on top of the strategy. NBC has Steve Letarte and Fox has Larry McReynolds.”

Earnhardt isn’t alone here. Plenty of NASCAR fans are happy that McReynolds will be in the booth for this Sunday’s race.

In fact, countless fans want McReynolds to join FOX Sports on a full-time basis.

McReynolds, a veteran crew chief with decades of experience, led Jeffrey Earnhardt to a runner-up finish in last weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series Race at Dover will begin at 3 p.m. ET on FS1.
