Daisy Jones & The Six star Riley Keough had a strange experience when her husband was cast as a one-night stand for her character on the show.

Prime Video's adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel of the same name is loosely inspired by the iconic '70s rock band Fleetwood Mac and has all the sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll you can imagine.

Keough explained on Late Night With Seth Myers that they'd thought it would be less awkward if they cast her husband instead of another actor, but she said it was worse.

"I think that they [the producers] were thinking it would be less awkward, and then we got there and they're like, 'This is really uncomfortable.' Like, for one, I've never had pretend sex with my husband."

She continued, "And for two, normally, typically, when you do these things, it's somebody coming in for the day. You're like, 'Hello, nice to meet you,' and you kind of get down to business and it's very professional. With him, we were just giggling the whole time."

She admitted she was very conscious of people making real-life comparisons to their own sex life.

She said: "In this scene, I'm not really enjoying it. And I really kept feeling inclined to be like, 'In real life, it's not like this!' Then I was like, 'I'll just keep that to myself.'"

When the author of the novel stumbled across a video of Fleetwood Mac performing the 1975 hit 'Landslide', it gave her the eventual inspiration for these characters.

"Lindsey [Buckingham] stopped strumming for a moment and Stevie [Nicks] let it fly as he watched from the sideline," she wrote in a blog for Hello Sunshine.

"And for one split second – truly, a slice of a moment – Lindsey put his fist under his chin and looked at Stevie as if she was a miracle. And I thought, 'Oh, they’re in love with each other.'"

The first three episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six are available to watch on Prime Video.
