The Daily Sweat: Plenty of football on a Thursday night, finally

It's not fall yet, but it will feel a little like it on Thursday night.

We got a taste of college football last weekend, and there has been some preseason NFL football on our screens. But Thursday, when there's multiple games to flip between, will be the start of the avalanche.

Football is back, and it'll be in our lives through the Super Bowl. Let's go.

There are seven college football games on the BetMGM betting board on Thursday morning (others, mostly between FBS and FCS teams, weren't listed). That's more than enough.

Here are the games that were listed:

St. Francis (Pa.) at Akron (-18.5)

Ball State at Tennessee (-35.5)

West Virginia at Pittsburgh (-7)

Central Michigan at Oklahoma State (-21.5)

Penn State (-3.5) at Purdue

Louisiana Tech at Missouri (-20.5)

New Mexico State at Minnesota (-36.5)

There are a couple of decent matchups in there. They'll lead into more games on Friday, a bunch on Saturday, Florida State vs. LSU on Sunday and Clemson vs. Georgia Tech on Monday. Then we get the Buffalo Bills-Los Angeles Rams opener a few days after that.

Football is truly back. Grab a bet (I prefer Pitt but I'd defer to Yahoo Sportsbook's Sam Cooper and his ATS picks) and enjoy it.

Here's a first look at the sports betting schedule for Thursday:

One EPL match

Leicester City takes on Manchester United in the lone English Premier League match on Thursday. Leicester City is +225 and Manchester United, which had its struggles to start the season, is +110 on the three-way line. It has been fun to get some afternoon soccer action this week.

Dodgers-Mets highlight MLB

No word on if Timmy Trumpet is sticking around, but the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers meet again after a great game on Wednesday night. The Dodgers are -135 favorites after losing 2-1 to Jacob deGrom and the Mets on Wednesday night. It's an afternoon game so it won't be overshadowed by college football, and it's a great matchup between two teams that should meet in the NLCS.

There are eight games in total, including four in the afternoon.

What's the best bet?

I'll go with Pitt since it feels like we have to take a football game today, but I also like the Mets as a home underdog. Either way, it's a pretty fun day to be a bettor.
