Daft Punk breaks up after nearly three decades of making music

It’s an explosive swan song for Daft Punk.

The popular electronic music duo released a final video Monday, coinciding with their publicist telling Variety that the huge-selling pair, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, have split.

The announcement came in an eight-minute clip in which the musicians, with their faces covered in their trademark helmets, are in a desert. One walks away until a timer on his back sets off a blast of debris and smoke.

The screen then flashes: “1993 - 2021.″

Founded in Paris in 1993, Daft Punk won six Grammys from its 12 nominations, including record of the year for “Get Lucky” and album of the year for “Random Access Memories” in 2014.

Daft Punk is also known for hit songs such as “Harder Better Faster Stronger” and “One More Time.”

“Good bye friends, it was awesome growing up with your sounds,” one fan commented on the video declaration.

“I feel like a part of my soul has died today,” another wrote. “Daft Punk were a huge influence on my early music and the reason I started DJing. Much love and happiness to you both for the future. You made a difference.”
