Being a pet owner frequently means doing things that are uncomfortable. One man had the internet completely impressed by his dedication to his puppy, when the little guy was freaked during his bath. He really went the extra-mile for the dog!

Bath time can be a little scary for puppies. We forget that! So what was a new puppy owner to do when his dog was feeling nervous?

Shared by the @bluessouthernpack, the clip shows the Golden Retriever owner walking into the bathroom holding the dog in his arms. It was the dog's first bath ever — so to help keep him calm the dog owner put on his swim trunks and got in the water with him.

The Golden puppy stuck by his papa the entire time. Dad then carefully sprinkled water over his head and tried to acclimate him to being in the tub. The man got the dog fully scrubbed, all without tears!

"This reminds me of all the good people in the world…" the video's caption reads. You can say that again!

Commenters online were also pretty touched. "Wished all animals could be recipients of this kind of treatment," one person wrote. "This is just the cutest and sweetest way to show how much you love your puppy," someone else gushed. "What a little cutie! Way to go Dad, that baby will love you forever!" cheered a third person. "So you have two Golden Retrievers, not just one!" teased another commenter.

How to Help a Dog That Hates Baths

It's actually pretty common for dogs to not exactly love bath time. So if your pup is really struggling to make it through a bath (or even get into the water) here are some tips.

It should come as no surprise that treats are really your best friends here. A well-timed treat after the bath is over can help your dog create a positive association with the chore. There's basically no task that a treat can't make better.

Something else that can really help is getting your dog used to the bathroom before the first bath; walk in with them a few times, let them eat treats off the floor — you might even want to place them in the tub without any water in it so they can get used to it. You can slowly build up to turning the water on. First by running the tap without any water touching your dog and then slowly letting the tub fill up more and more. It might take several attempts to make it happen, but eventually your dog will get used to the water and not get scared.

Or you could do what this dog dad did and hop in the tub yourself. That's a surefire way to make sure your dog feels safe.
