Stranger Things' Dacre Montgomery and Euphoria's Barbie Ferreira are set to team up for a new horror remake.

The two TV stars will appear in movie Faces of Death, which is based in the 1978 film of the same name.

The original follows a pathologist who presents a variety of ways to die via footage from a number of sources, most of which were faked for the movie.

While it was released in cinemas at the time, and was banned in a number of countries, it gained further cult status in the 1980s when home video became widespread.

The new Faces of Death has been written by Isa Mazzei and directed Daniel Goldhaber.

“Faces of Death was one of the first viral video tapes, and we are so lucky to be able to use it as a jumping off point for this exploration of cycles of violence and the way they perpetuate themselves online,” the two creatives said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Montgomery is famous for appearing as Billy Hargrove in seasons two and three of Netflix's Stranger Things, while Ferreira has appeared as Kat Hernandez in Euphoria.

The latter revealed last year that she had left the show ahead of the third season, the star saying at the time: "After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye."

She added: "I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez."
