Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad plans to resume operation Friday after 2-month hiatus

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has announced it will return from its voluntary hiatus Friday, marking the end of a two-month period "aimed at enhancing passenger safety and operational protocols," a press release said.

The railroad said it has made significant investments in operational areas such as advancements in radio communications, operations management software and safety cameras in the train cars.

The railroad has also written and implemented new operating rules and procedures specifically tailored to its unique operational scale.

"CVSR stands as a testament to excellence in scenic railroading, a leader of industry innovation and dedication. Our team's relentless pursuit of safety and service excellence defines us," Joe Mazur, president and CEO of the scenic railroad, said in the press release. "I am immensely proud of our staff and volunteers, whose commitment and hard work has paved the way for our return to the rails. We are so excited to welcome passengers back on Friday and deliver unforgettable experiences on board one of the nation's premier scenic railroads!"

The train's first ride after the hiatus will take place at 10 a.m. Friday as it departs from Akron and heads north to Peninsula.
