The customer is always right at Glow Nails, the newest nail salon in Westminster

When My Nguyen of Leominster decided she wanted to open her own nail salon, she knew she wanted to make it a business that puts the customer's needs first.

This month, Nguyen, with the support of her friends and husband, David Gaguon, opened Glow Nails at 217 State Road East in Westminster. They are now accepting reservations and walk-ins. Call the Glow Nails staff at 978-400-3337 to book an appointment.

Nguyen has worked in the nail salon business for over 10 years in the Leominster area. About five years ago, she realized she disagreed with her former employer on how they operated the business, which sparked her desire to be her own boss.

"I did not like how they treated customers," she said. "The customer is important, and I want them to be happy so they keep coming back."

The nail salon is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Sundays.

Why did she pick Westminster?

David Gaguon, Nguyen's husband for over 20 years, has been by her side during her journey to find the right location for the nail salon. Gaguon said they had to look all over the area to find the perfect place, and it wasn't until a friend of Nguyen suggested she move into Whitman Plaza in Westminster that she found the perfect place.

Gaguon said he tries to help his wife as much as possible, including keeping up with the salon's maintenance.

Nguyen said her friend, who owns Flutter Yen Aesthetics, next door to Glow Nails Salon, told her about the vacancy in Whitman Plaza at 217 State Road East. She said two of her friends and nail tech colleagues have joined her team to support her vision of putting the customer first.

"We've got friends in Westminster, and we love the town, so we thought it was a good place to open the salon," she said. "It wasn't easy to find a place that would fit everything and in a nice area."

Glow Nail services

Glow Nails Salon is a full-service nail salon. Nguyen said they do all the trendy techniques, like dip powder nail polish, also known as SNS powder nails. This service starts at $45.

Besides the dip powder technique, the staff at Glow Nails also does traditional manicures and pedicures, which together cost $60. They also offer a full set of acrylic nails for $50 and up, a full set of gel nails for $35, a full set of French manicures for $40, and Shellac nails, which are a half-gel and half-regular nail polish that lasts longer than regular nail polish, for $35. Nail art designs cost an extra $7 and up.

Another service offered at Glow Nails is waxing. Eyebrows and chin or lip waxing are $20 each. Underarms is $30, and full face is $50. Gift certificates are available at the salon.
