The Crystal Ball has good news for Kentucky. And the top UK basketball recruiting links.
There’s been quite a bit of action with the Crystal Ball (and similar basketball recruiting prediction sites) over the past week or so, and many of the developments have been positive ones for the Kentucky Wildcats.
The biggest news in recent days has been related to top-five national recruits Justin Edwards and DJ Wagner, who have been two of Kentucky’s biggest 2023 priorities since the beginning of the cycle. Behind the scenes, UK has been confident regarding both recruitments, and — with decisions from Edwards and Wagner expected soon — recruiting analysts have been trending both players toward Kentucky. Meanwhile, there’s five-star center Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso, who is scheduled to visit UK this week and has long been rumored to be considering a jump to the 2022 class, which would put him on a college campus this season.
Since late last month, there have been a total of 20 new predictions on the respective 247Sports, Rivals.com and On3.com recruiting pages of Edwards, Onyenso and Wagner — and every one of them has been in favor of the Wildcats, including several picks coming in from national analysts. 247Sports analyst Travis Branham logged a new pick for Kentucky on Edwards’ Crystal Ball page Sunday night after interviewing him at the Nike Peach Jam.
Edwards is scheduled to announce his college choice July 25, Wagner’s decision is also expected soon, and Onyenso could reveal both a college commitment and reclassification to 2022 shortly after his UK visit this week. Things are continuing to look up for the Wildcats.
