The Crown star Emma Corrin has landed their next lead movie role, in a film titled Peaches.

According to Deadline, Corrin and co-star Lucie Zhang will play a pair of best friends living in Hong Kong who scam sugar daddies for a living. When the duo discover that an Hermes Birkin bag they were gifted is a fake, their crimes and boyfriends catch up with them.

Coco Francini will produce the film, which marks director Jenny Suen's English-language feature debut, while Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton take on executive producing duties.

Speaking about Peaches, Suen, who wrote and co-directed her debut The White Girl in 2017 with Christopher Doyle, described the movie as "playful" while praising lead actors Corrin and Zhang, calling them "astonishing performers".

"Peaches is a playful exploration of what it means to be a young person in today's calamitous world. Why live your life seriously if it feels like you have no future?

"Emma Corrin and Lucie Zhang are astonishing performers with both the verve and the vulnerability to bring the Peach spirit to life! I am beyond excited to start shooting with Emma and Lucie, and ever grateful for my collaboration with Coco Francini, Cate Blanchett, and Andrew Upton at Dirty Films," said Suen.

Meanwhile, the film's producer Francini echoed the director's sentiments, saying Corrin and Zhang are the "perfect" lead actors for the story.

"Jenny Suen's Peaches is an uproarious ode to youth and freedom with a dash of Hong Kong slapstick. Emma Corrin and Lucie Zhang are two of the most exciting talents of their generation and they are the perfect actors to capture the distinct rhythms and surreal escapades of this very special film," said Francini.

Production for Peaches will begin early next year in Hong Kong.
