Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan are expanding their family.

In April, the royal couple announced that they are expecting their first child, who will arrive this summer. The royal baby will also be the first grandchild of Queen Rania and King Abdullah.

The exciting news comes almost a year after the duo tied the knot in June 2023. Dubbed the “royal wedding of the year,” their nuptials in Amman were an extravagant affair that included a star-studded guest list.

The wedding brought royals from around the world, including Prince William and Kate Middleton representing the British royal family, to celebrate the couple's union.

Though the two have kept some details of their love story out of the public eye, they've occasionally shared a glimpse into their relationship with the media.

Here’s everything to know about their relationship.

During a previous interview with Vogue Arabia published in May 2023, Crown Prince Hussein gave insight into how his relationship with Princess Rajwa came to be. "I met Rajwa through an old friend from school," he revealed, adding, "I consider myself lucky because it is not every day you meet someone like Rajwa."

It’s unclear which school Crown Prince Hussein was referring to, though they both attended university in the United States. Princess Rajwa, originally born in Saudi Arabia, earned a degree in architecture from Syracuse University in New York as well as a professional designation degree in visual communications from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Crown Prince Hussein is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

In August 2022, the couple announced their engagement, which took place at the home of Princess Rajwa's father in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, according to Prince Hussein's website. Both Queen Rania and King Abdullah as well as other members of the royal family were present.

As they announced their engagement with an official portrait, people quickly drew parallels to Prince William and Princess Kate’s engagement photo. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa posed for an official engagement portrait in which she sported an elegant blue dress, reminiscent of Kate’s 2010 outfit.

Crown Prince Hussein had a special role during his younger sister's big day at Beit Al Urdon Palace: he escorted her down the aisle before taking his seat between his mother, Queen Rania, and Princess Rajwa for the wedding service.

Princess Rajwa also attended Princess Iman's henna party ahead of the wedding, appearing in photos shared by Queen Rania.
