Crocodile attacks 2 American tourists swimming in Mexico, where teen was injured a year earlier

A crocodile attacked two American in Mexico this week while they were swimming at night, according to local authorities.

A 24-year-old man from Colorado swimming in the sea in Puerto Vallarta sustained injuries to his lower extremities, right upper extremity, chest and abdomen, the Jalisco State Civil Protection and Fire Department Unit tweeted.

The man’s companion, also from The Centennial State, went to help him and in turn, suffered injuries to the upper extremity as well as an injury to the groin.

The incident is reminiscent of a late July 2021 crocodile attack that left a California teen injured, also in Puerto Vallarta.

Bay Area resident Kiana Hummel was staying at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa when a 12-foot crocodile interrupted her nighttime ocean swim with a friend.

The animal attacked Hummel’s legs, leaving her with severe tendon and muscle injuries.
