Aaron Rodgers had a lot to say about his relationship with the Green Bay Packers at his first press conference of the summer last week. But while the presser may have seemed very unusual to NFL fans, NBC’s Cris Collinsworth was floored.

Taking to Twitter this past Thursday, Collinsworth thanked Rodgers for being so open and honest. He said that he hopes Rodgers’ press “sets a new standard” for others.

Collinsworth bemoaned the current state of communication in the United States. He said that while disagreement is okay, communication between parties is key.

“I wanted to thank Aaron Rodgers for that honest press conference,” Collinsworth said. “I hope it sets a new standard for athletes, business leaders, and politicians. Today’s fear of communication is unprecedented in our country, and damaging. We don’t have to agree, but we do have to communicate.”

As with most things that Cris Collinsworth has to say, there was a fair amount of controversy in the comments.

Many pointed out that if a quarterback of lesser talent than Rodgers said the same thing, they would be trashed in the media or even cut.

But for the most part, Collinsworth has found plenty of silent agreement to the tune of over 19,000 likes.

You may not agree with what Aaron Rodgers had to say at that press conference, but it’s easy to admire him for how he said it.
