'Criminal Minds' Star Paget Brewster, 53, Has THE Most Inspiring Perspective on Aging

After playing SSA-turned-BAU chief Emily Prentiss for almost two decades, Criminal Minds: Evolution star Paget Brewster knows a thing or two about the pressure to stay young in Hollywood. But she's not letting that stop her from feeling confident in her own body, and she's letting people know about it too.

On New Year's Day, the Paramount+ star found herself taking to Twitter to share her thoughts on getting older. Posting a promotional shot from the recent Criminal Minds reboot, the 53 year old opened up about wanting to embrace her natural features instead of medically altering herself.

"Hi guys. I’m excited about 2023!" Paget captioned the photo. "It’s hard getting older and not doing injections or surgery but I choose that. I’m older. I’m still hard working, inquisitive and sexy. Very sexy."

Reacting to her candid message, Criminal Minds fans wasted no time showing their support for the actress. Many quickly responded to her tweet with their own inspirational comments.

"Paget makes me so excited to grow up. I want grey hair so badly," one person wrote. "Yes you are! And you’re absolutely beautiful no matter what. Love you Paget! 🫶," a different fan replied. "It's an achievement to grow older. You're doing it the way it looks on you, which is pretty damn good. Keep your head up, there are no answers on the ground," another follower added.

As longtime viewers know, Paget's character has gone through quite the transformation during her time in the BAU. But Criminal Minds: Evolution saw this one step further, with Prentiss debuting gray hair for the first time. While it may be a novel look for the current unit and section chief, the actress has spoken out feeling the need to hide her changing hair color in the original series.

"When we were shooting the last 10 episodes of Criminal Minds for CBS. I asked my show director if I could wear a wig, because Prentiss' hair kind of looked like a wig," she said on The Talk in November 2022. "I thought, "OK, when the show is over, I want to do other things and play different parts and maybe I'll rock some gray hair ... It turns out that prestige drama I want to be on is Criminal Minds: Evolution and I could have the gray hair."

Luckily, she's not the only one celebrating the new on-screen look. Her cast members continue to be vocal about the character's modern hairstyle and they're all for Prentiss — and Paget — embracing getting older with grace.

"Paget is such a champ — I call it her Prentiss 2.0," A.J. Cook told TVLine. "I really, really love this streaming version of Prentiss. There's a little sass there and she's got this beautiful silver gray hair now and it's stunning. Just the confidence which exudes from her is really impressive."
