Update: Wildfire near Three Rivers at 15% containment after burning overnight, Cal Fire says

UPDATE: The Marmot Fire — off South Fork Drive and Cinnamon Canyon Road, southeast of Three Rivers — remained at 127 acres burned, according to Cal Fire on Wednesday morning.

Containment was at 15% and the forward progress of the fire has been stopped, Cal Fire said in an update.

Road closures have been moved to South Fork Drive and Mountain Road 319.

Evacuation warnings are still in place.

ORIGINAL STORY: A wildfire sparked up Tuesday afternoon southeast of Three Rivers, prompting the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office to issue evacuation warnings.

The warnings were in the areas of South Fork Drive, from Cinnamon Canyon Drive, to the park entrance, on both sides of the roadway. The roadway includes Grouse Valley Drive.

According to Cal Fire, the Marmot Fire started at 2 p.m., southeast of Three Rivers and was at 127 acres with no containment as of 5 p.m.

Four hand crews, six engines and two dozers, including the Tulare County Fire Department, were battling the blaze.

Deputies said an evacuation warning means that residents should prepare now to evacuate if it becomes necessary and if residents need extra time to evacuate to leave the area now.
