Crew Member Dies on Set of Marvel Studios' 'Wonder Man'

A crew member working on the upcoming Marvel Studios' series Wonder Man has tragically died as the result of a freak accident on set.

Reports from several outlets, including Deadline, confirmed on Tuesday, Feb. 6 that a rigger working on the new project died after falling from the rafters at Radford Studios in Studio City, Calif.

A spokesperson for Marvel Studios issued a statement regarding the tragic accident, which read, "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident."

The name of the crew member has not been disclosed.

Production on the series is supposed to start next month after facing delays as a result of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood.

The new Marvel and Disney+ series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, who is "thrust into the world of superheroes as he gets powers of his own, and becomes the new superhero, Wonder Man," per IMDB.

Other cast members on the miniseries include Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, aka the Grim Reaper, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery and Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan. In February 2023, Mindhunter actress Lauren Glazier was also cast in Wonder Man, though her supporting role has not yet been revealed. According to Inside the MagicJosh Gad is also reported to be have been cast in the series in an undisclosed role.

Despite the show's original release date set for the 2023-2024 television season, it is now unclear when the show will premiere following delays from the strikes. When it does release, it will drop under the Marvel spotlight banner, a sub-category for projects primarily about MCU characters.
