Craving pancakes? Omelets? Find Sunday brunch on Saturday at these Palm Beach restaurants

When eggs Benedict, avocado toast, lemon ricotta pancakes and smoked salmon are on the menu, it must be Sunday brunch, right? Unless it’s Saturday brunch.

Some of Palm Beach’s most popular restaurants now offer Saturday brunch in addition to Sunday brunch — and those in the know can’t get enough of the Saturday version.

Well, yes, you say: Why would Hollandaise-sauced eggs and French toast only taste delicious on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.?

As one Palm Beach restaurateur put it, “weekends were made for brunch and Saturday brunch is awesome."

Whether you crave a classic eggs Benedict or something more unusual for brunch, here are some great spots to try for Saturday brunch:

Saturday brunch for years has been a best-kept secret at Café Boulud (which also offers Sunday brunch), home to indoor and outdoor seating in a historic fountain courtyard.

Tempting fine-cuisine dishes fill the brunch menu at the French-American restaurant, the Palm Beach outpost of famed chef-restaurateur Daniel Boulud.

Go for the gusto and order steak and eggs ($35) served with tomato and potatoes Lyonnaise or poached eggs Florentine ($30), which is akin to a Benedict but layered with smoked salmon and spinach as well.

A popular choice? The house burger ($28) with aged Vermont cheddar, house-cured bacon, shaved iceberg lettuce, tomato and red onion on a sesame-seed bun.

Where else in Palm Beach but La Goulue can you find an award-winning cheese souffle ($28) with Gruyere, parmesan and white truffle oil?

Saturday (and Sunday) brunch at the French bistro is all about French classics, whether it’s steak tartare ($25), foie-gras terrine ($45) or escargots, which you can order by the half-dozen ($16) or dozen ($28).

Few can resist the French onion soup gratinée served in a small crock, topped with buttered and herbed house-made baguette croutons and alternating layers of Gruyere and Provolone.

It’s “the ultimate comfort food,” executive chef Gwen Le Pape has said of his onion soup. “It’s very labor intensive, but if you love what goes into the process — and love is the best ingredient — then there is no other way.”

Items from the lunch menu also are available during brunch (try a burger, for example). Crowd-pleasing bunch fare here also includes cheese-and-charcuterie plates for $28 or $35.

Whether you sit inside or al fresco by the pool, bagel-loving groups at Swifty’s can get their bagel-and-schmear (and a lot more) brunch fix by ordering the restaurant’s Popup Bagels “tower” ($125).

It joined the brunch offerings this past season and features six assorted Popup Bagels, Catsmo smoked salmon, white-fish salad, crème fraiche, scallion schmear, trout roe, capers, tomato and red onion.

Swifty’s is the only place in town to score Popup Bagels, which otherwise are generally only available at select spots in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Brunch guests at Swifty’s appreciate many other menu items, such as the tuna tartare ($39); chicken-liver pate platter ($27) with cornichon, red-onion jam, baby radishes, mustard and grilled bread; or the cheese, jalapeno and cilantro fritters ($29) with crispy cauliflower, chermoula, baba ghanoush and pomegranate.
