Coxey’s Army is topic of Massillon Museum's Brown Bag Lunch program

MASSILLON − Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way E, will host local historian Richard Haldi at its Brown Bag Lunch beginning at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Haldi will present an illustrated talk about Coxey’s Army. The free program will conclude about 12:50 p.m. to accommodate guests who attend on their lunch hours. The event is free and open to everyone. No reservations are required.

Haldi, a Canton native, is the author of three Stark County history books and is well known for his community presentations on 40 different topics. Massillonian Jacob Coxey, in the spring of 1894, led an “army” of unemployed men from Massillon to Washington, D.C. The audience will learn the background of his effort, the logistics of the trek, and the surprising outcome of the first protest march on the nation’s capital.

Guests may bring lunch or purchase sandwiches, salad, and smoothies at Greatness Cafe in the museum lobby. Massillon Museum provides complimentary cookies and coffee for attendees. Galleries will be open before and after the Brown Bag Lunch.

Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots. For more information, call 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
