Cowboys Rookie Will Undergo Ankle Surgery On Thursday

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Chauncey Golston, who contributed as a rookie in 2021, will have ankle surgery on Thursday, head coach Mike McCarthy revealed this afternoon.

Golston, a third-round pick out of Iowa, appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys this season, contributing on defense and special teams. He recorded 32 tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery and four quarterback hits.

Golston also scored his first career touchdown on a blocked punt return in a 56-14 win over Washington on December 26.

In Sunday’s season-ending playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Golston played eight snaps on defense and 14 on special teams.

Dallas finished the 2021 season with a 12-5 record, earning the NFC East title and No. 3 seed in the postseason. It was the franchise’s first trip to the playoffs in three years..

However, it didn’t last long, as the 49ers eliminated the Cowboys to earn a matchup with the Green Bay Packers this weekend.
