It didn’t take long for Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy to turn his attention over to the offseason. On Wednesday, he revealed which areas the team needs to improve heading into next season.

McCarthy said the main focus for the Cowboys this offseason is to cut down on the penalties. They were penalized 14 times this past Sunday.

“Our No. 1 focus going forward is the penalties,” McCarthy told reporters. “There were far too many.”

Cowboys fans aren’t very pleased with this statement from McCarthy in large part because penalties have been a huge issue for the team all season. He shouldn’t have waited until a playoff loss to address the problem.

It a took a playoff loss to figure that out? One would think that just looking at the penalties vs. Vegas a head coach would know to make a change,” a fan replied.

“This should’ve ben a focus after the Buccaneers game,” another fan said.

“This seems like something that should’ve been addressed before we lost in the first round of the playoffs,” a third fan tweeted.

Honestly, it’s hard to blame the fans for reacting this way. The Cowboys weren’t supposed to be a one-and-done team in the playoffs.

We’ll find out next season if the Cowboys can minimize the penalties.
