Dak Prescott has been back with the Dallas Cowboys, fully recovered from the serious leg injury that ended his 2020 season. But fans were understandably nervous after today’s practice.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Prescott jogged off the practice field in the middle of today’s training. Prescott spectated for 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s, but there was “no evidence” that his departure was related to his ankle injury.

ESPN’s Todd Archer soon revealed the reason why. Archer reported that Prescott was feeling “some soreness” in his throwing arm. The team is examining the issue further.

A spokesman for the Cowboys told Archer that Prescott felt the soreness early in practice. Out of an abundance of caution, they decided not to push it.

Dak Prescott is coming off a season-ending ankle injury that sidelined him from any football activity for months. Prior to that injury though, he was on pace for a career-year at quarterback.

Dallas’ offense struggled mightily in his absence. They went from averaging over 30 points a game over the first five weeks to scoring a grand total of 42 points in the four weeks after his injury.

The team would finish the season 6-10, missing the playoffs for the second year in a row.

With Dak Prescott healthy, the Cowboys are NFC East title contenders and potential Super Bowl contenders. Without him, they’ll likely struggle to finish with nine wins.

Hopefully Prescott is at full health and back on the field soon.
