The Dallas Cowboys have announced an injury update for star quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott left practice on Wednesday with an apparent injury. The Cowboys later announced that Prescott was dealing with a shoulder injury.

Dallas has since revealed that Prescott underwent an MRI. The results of the MRI showed that Prescott has a shoulder strain.

“After leaving today’s practice early with soreness in his right arm, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott underwent an MRI examination in Oxnard, CA. The results of that test showed that Prescott has a muscle strain in his right shoulder,” the Cowboys announced in a statement.

Prescott, who missed most of last season with a serious leg injury, does not believe this shoulder injury is serious.

“I felt some soreness when making certain throws today, and I really just decided not to push things too far. Better to be cautious and smart about it. I don’t see this as any kind of serious setback. We’ll treat it on a daily basis, and I’ll be fine,” Prescott said.

The Cowboys opened training camp last week.

Dallas is scheduled to open the 2021 regular season on Thursday, Sept. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
