Picture this: You just saw one of your favorite couples tie the knot. To make the occasion even more magical, performers in Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes show up and take photos with guests. Your stomach starts to rumble as you snap one more selfie with Mickey. You look around for food, but there is none. No steak, no chicken, no salmon.

The internet is ablaze over the news that a newlywed couple allegedly didn't have catering at their wedding in order to afford a 30-minute appearance from Minnie and Mickey Mouse. The story made the rounds after NBC News uncovered a Reddit thread with all the tantalizing details.

"My fiancée (M30) and I just got married two months ago and we had our dream wedding," the Reddit user shared in a now-deleted post, according to NBC News. “The cost to have both Minnie and Mickey for a good chunk of time (30 minutes) was almost exactly what our parents allotted for our catering budget, so we scheduled an appearance during our first dance and our wedding photos, forgoing served food (though there were PLENTY of facilities at the venue where people could eat…)."

According to the Reddit user, the backlash came shortly after the wedding when their aunt expressed her disappointment in a Facebook post. A few wedding guests sided with the aunt.

A handful of Reddit users also expressed their feelings about the food-free wedding, writing "I love Disney — but damn you are rude" and "Don’t host a party if you can’t take care of your guests."

Similarly, a Southern California couple garnered both praise and criticism earlier this year for their $500 wedding, which took place at a picturesque turnoff on Angeles Crest Highway. Guests had to pay for their own food and drinks at the ceremony, but were made aware of this prior to the wedding.
