Country superstar Kenny Chesney to play 2 SC concerts. Here’s when and where

Kenny Chesney will bring his 2023 tour to Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena April 24 and Charleston’s Credit One Stadium May 25.

The I Go Back Tour revisits markets that launched his career, according to his website.

His 2022 tour of 21 NFL stadiums saw 1.3 million tickets sold. He says on the website he didn’t want to just recreate those performances for his fans, which he dubs No Shoes Nation.

“ I still have the sounds of diesel engines and No Shoes Nation in my head – and that made me ask, ‘What else could I do?” he said on the website. “ What would be something that would put me every bit as much in the music and give No Shoes Nation another reason to believe?”

He remembered “I Go Back,” released in 2004, and set the tour around that idea.

“That song is about holding all those things that shaped you very close, recognizing how special they are – and keeping them alive any way you can. So, I decided that rather than just go repeat what we did, I wanted to take this band and these songs to a lot of the cities we played on our way up!”

The tour begins in State College, Pennsylvania, at Bryce Jordan Center on March 25.

So far, 21 dates have been announced, with a few more to be added.

“I remember coming up, the craziness of so many of those dates,” Chesney said. “Markets where people were using chain-cutters to get onto the lawn because we were so sold out in the Carolinas ... and that’s a kind of energy that should never be left behind.”
