Could Ja Morant participate in the NBA Slam Dunk contest? The Grizzlies star chimes in

Saturday night's NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest left fans wanting more. Pleas for some of the best NBA high-flyers were made, and that led to Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant.

"somebody please pay ja that $1(million) so he can do this contest," a fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Morant, who is out for the season with a shoulder injury, responded to the post with a thinking emoji, indicating that he was considering the idea.

The same conversation also came up last season when fans wondered why Morant wouldn't do the contest. During his media availability during the 2023 NBA All-Star weekend, Morant stated, "I'm not doing the dunk contest."

Maybe it's the part about paying Morant one million to do the dunk contest that made him entertain the idea, but he's also previously addressed that.

"Ten. I need 12 (million). I got Pampers and stuff to buy," Morant said in Sept. 2021 to Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks.

Morant is widely regarded as one of the NBA's best in-game dunkers and has some of the best poster dunks in recent years. Considering that he's also one of the young stars at point guard in the NBA, fans won't stop calling for his participation in the all-star weekend event.
