Is Costco Open on New Year's Day?

The end of the year is always full of excitement and merriment. We started the holiday season by feasting at Thanksgiving, and we're ending it by going into New Year's Day. If you, like us, couldn't be more ready for 2024, you're probably already planning your New Year's Eve party and figuring out what to caption your photos of fireworks and champagne flutes. As we all know, with planning comes purchasing to make the first day of 2024 spectacular—you've got to set the tone for the rest of the year with a bang. However, with so many celebrations happening at once, it's easy to forget something you need—whether it's a key ingredient for a New Year's superstition or simply another household necessity—and find yourself heading out for a quick Costco run.
The wholesale store is a forever favorite for so many reasons: Its Kirkland branded products from home to food to dog hoodies, its unbeatable prices, its constant deals. It's so beloved that a couple even had their engagement photoshoot inside one of the stores. But even though Costco is there for us so often throughout the year, that doesn't mean the store will be there for us every single day of the year....
Is Costco Open on New Year's Day 2024?
Unfortunately, Costco will not be open on New Year's Day. The wholesale store is closed for only seven days of the year, and the first day of the year is one of them. The good news is Costco is open on New Year's Eve. As on Christmas Eve, the retailer opens slightly early and closes slightly early. We're seeing Costco New Year's Eve hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for most locations, but hours may vary from one store to another; we recommend confirming your local store hours before you drive over. If you need something urgently later than that on New Year's Eve, you'll just have to hit up another store. Happy New Year!
