Corrie's Sue Cleaver reveals stay in intensive care during "scary time"

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has revealed that she was recently rushed to hospital and ended up in intensive care.

The actress, who plays Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, made the revelation during an appearance on Loose Women on Thursday (August 31), describing it as a "scary time."

"I've had a really bad year," she shared. "I had a hysterectomy in March and then a few weeks ago I ended up in A&E."

The former I'm a Celeb contestant continued: "I don't need to go into the details but it was a scary, scary time. I had surgery and then ended up in intensive care."

Sue also hit out at scamming accounts on social media that are using her recent weight loss, which she previously attributed to giving up alcohol and a recent illness, to sell weight-loss products.

"There is no diet, there are no gummies and I am incensed that these companies pray on peoples' vulnerabilities and use our name," she said.

Addressing the scammers on her Instagram page last week, Sue said: "There is obviously some scam going around saying that I lost weight using keto gummies, dummies – I dunno. Well, it's crap. It's a scam.

"It's outrageous. And I just want you to know that I would never, ever, ever advocate anything like that. I'm absolutely incensed."

The actress went on to reveal that she's had "women's health issues" which have contributed to the weight loss and is now trying to put weight back on, adding: "Life's too short to worry about dieting and finding quick fixes. Just be happy with yourself."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
