Corrie's Lauren Bolton sparks suspicion over mystery boyfriend

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton will raise suspicions over her relationship once again next week, as she continues to hide her mystery boyfriend.

Before Christmas, Lauren claimed that she had a rich new partner, who gifted her an expensive necklace, but she remained quiet about the man's identity.

In scenes that will air on Monday, January 15, Wednesday, January 17 and Friday, January 19, the mystery is revisited when Lauren's friends start to get suspicious about what she might be hiding.

As the week begins, David Platt is impressed when Max Turner practises his hairdressing skills on Lauren in the salon.

After her appointment, Max invites Lauren over for tea, but when his girlfriend Sabrina Adetiba suggests that she could bring her boyfriend along too, Lauren's smile fades.

Later in the week, while in the café, Sabrina quizzes Lauren further about her boyfriend. When Sabrina suggests again that they should all meet up together, Lauren's unease is evident, and Sabrina tells Max that it's obvious she's lying about her relationship.

Max then tentatively asks Lauren why she always clams up whenever her boyfriend is mentioned, leaving Lauren fighting back tears. She quickly orders Max out of the café, not wanting to talk about it anymore.

Later in the week, Max and Sabrina invite Lauren to join them for lunch in the Bistro, along with Sabrina's brother, Gav.

Lauren suddenly reveals that she's dumped her mystery boyfriend - but is there more to the situation than meets the eye?

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod revealed to Digital Spy and other media last year that Lauren has a long-term future on the cobbles, following her return last summer after a previous guest stint as part of Max's extremism storyline.

"There's definitely more to come from her. She'll have quite a big role to play [in 2024]," he teased.

He added that fans will "see a complexity to her character that maybe we weren't aware of" and that Lauren will be involved in "quite a romantic set of stories".

"But she will continue to be quite troubled," he said. "There is more to come from Lauren as Roy [Cropper]'s next project and in her own right."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
