Coronation Street's Abi Webster finally turns against Aaron Sandford

Coronation Street's Abi Webster is going to turn against Aaron Sandford in upcoming scenes.
Abi has previously stood by him during the rape allegations, believing his lies and even letting him live in her home.
But things will take a turn next week as Amy Barlow, encouraged by dad Steve McDonald, decides to write and publish a blog post about her ordeal and the injustice she's faced (including a serious allegation of harassment made against her).

After reading the blog post, Abi and Tyrone Dobbs tell Aaron that he can go find himself another job.
"Everybody starts coming onto Amy's side because she isn't the type of girl to lie about something like this," Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy, explained. "She wouldn't just be saying this for no reason, which does create a bit of a dilemma for Abi at first, because Aaron’s almost like a second son to her.
"She backed him before she knew it was Amy, but this adds a different level to things because she knows Amy and she knows she wouldn’t lie. Abi and Tracy have been friends and Abi then feels a responsibility to do something about it."

James Craven, who plays Aaron, previously explained that it might take a while for his character to admit what he has done, stating: "The reason that he reacts and defends himself in the way that he does is because he truly believes he's innocent.
"It's quite a difficult thing when he's outwardly defending himself and you know that he shouldn't be defending himself. As an actor you have to try and find a way to rationalise why he does what he does because he's not an evil character."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
