Coronation Street boss confirms killer Stephen Reid will be caught out

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has assured fans that Weatherfield killer Stephen Reid will be caught out.

Since his return to the Cobbles last summer, viewers have seen Stephen try to swindle money out of his mother Audrey Roberts and Rovers owner Jenny Connor, before killing Jenny's fiancé Leo Thompkins after he figured out what Stephen was up to.

The killer claimed another victim last month – Leo's father Teddy, who discovered that Stephen murdered his son.

Now, Stephen has Carla Barlow in his sights, as he plans to take over the Underworld factory.

During a recent appearance on Loose Women, panellist Denise Welch informed MacLeod that the show has received an "unprecedented" number of calls from viewers wondering if Stephen will ever pay for his crimes.

Fortunately, the Corrie boss replied: "Of course he is. It's a soap, bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don't they? So yes, 100%. There's a lot of fun to be had between now and then I will say."

Giving fans a little more insight into what they can expect to see from Stephen's feud with Carla, MacLeod continued: "As we're starting to see this week, he's developing a new feud with one of our most popular characters – a feisty female character, Carla.

"So he's going to go head-to-head with her for a while, which I think I'm really going to enjoy.

"There's a little way to go yet. He's going to get up to more mischief, to put it mildly, but yes, in the end, all bad guys meet their fate."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
