Shown performing June 24, 2023, at Dewey Canon Park in Three Oaks, Corky Siegel returns to the southwestern Michigan village May 10, 2024, to perform with his Chamber Blues ensemble at The Acorn.

THREE OAKS — Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues performs at 8 p.m. May 10 at The Acorn, 107 Generations Drive.

The co-founder of The Siegel-Schwall Band with guitarist Jim Schwall in Chicago in 1964, Siegel spent the next 10 years at the forefront of blues-rock music.

But in 1968, Siegel-Schwall partnered with Maestro Seiji Ozawa, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and composer William Russo for “Three Pieces for Blues Band and Orchestra,” which set Siegel on the path to his Chamber Blues ensemble, which has released five albums, including 2017’s “Different Voices” and its continuation, 2022’s “MORE Different Voices.”

In 2022, Siegel, who turned 80 in October, also released two solo albums: “Songs for Truth and Harmony” and “Something Wrong.”

Currently, he’s in the middle of recording Symphonic Blues #6 with members of Chamber Blues and musician friends from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras around Chicago.

Siegel has previously described Chamber Blues to The Tribune as “the relationship and interaction between blues and classical” rather than as a hybrid of the two genres.

The current Chamber Blues ensemble members are violinsts Jaime Gorgojo and Chihsuan Yang, violist Rose Armbrust, cellist Jocelyn Butler-Shoulders, and tabla player Kalyan “Johnny Bongo” Pathak.

Tickets are $65-$40.
