Corbin signs 11 new players for Cowgirls soccer

Nov. 10—University of Wyoming women's soccer coach Colleen Corbin announced 11 new additions Wednesday for national signing day.

The collection of incoming talent stretches from coast-to-coast and also includes every positional group, giving Corbin depth all over the pitch.

"What we are most excited about is how excited these girls are to be Cowgirls," Corbin said. "This is a very niche place to live, to play and to go to school. We wanted to be intentional about recruiting student-athletes that are excited to live in Wyoming and to represent this state.

"This group is gritty, they're competitive, they care about winning, and they care about being good people."

The list includes: Maddie Burr, Renee Craddock, Erin Dahl, Reese Gould, Jordan Griess, Rachel Hansen, Peyton Hill, Hadley Linder, Rory Murry, Kylee Bliss Quilici Quain and Bella Russell.

Burr is a defender out of Fort Collins, Colorado. She played club ball for Colorado Rapids Soccer Club.

"On the field, Maddie is a fierce competitor," Corbin said. "I'm excited about the energy she's going to add to our backline. She's going to be a key player in helping our group continue to become better defensively as a whole, while also being able to generate some offense out of our backline."

Craddock is a defender from Salt Lake City, Utah. She played club ball for Utah Avalanche Soccer Club.

"Renee is very good on the ball," Corbin said. "She's a play-making center back, and that leads to our style of soccer. We want to be able to keep the ball, move the ball and generate our attack from our backline.

"She's calm, she's composed and she's a vocal leader that doesn't have an issue with communicating."

Dahl is a midfielder out of Lehi, Utah. She also played club ball for Utah Avalanche Soccer Club.

"Erin is a playmaker," Corbin said. "Her distribution is great. Her defensive presence is super solid. She's very good as a holding mid and disrupting the play of the other teams and starting the attack. She's small but fierce. We are excited to add her grit into the midfielder."

Gould is a defender from Poway, California. She played club ball for the San Diego Surf Soccer Club.

"Reese is fast, athletic and tackles hard," Corbin said. "She is definitely going to add some pace and some movement and some fluidity in our backline. She can play center back, and she can play outside back, so we are excited to get her dynamic presence involved in our backline."

Griess is a midfielder that attends Burns High, but plays soccer at Cheyenne East.

"Jordan is very athletic, has a lot of pace and causes people problems," Corbin said. "People have to account for her no matter where she is on the field. They have to play attention to her, and they have to account for her speed. I'm looking forward to adding her and more local talent from the state."

Hansen is a midfielder from Clive, Iowa. She played club ball for Sporting Iowa Soccer Club.

"Rachel is a utility player, for sure," Corbin said. "You can play her anywhere up and down the field. What we are super excited about is her defensive presence, her calmness and composure while also bringing in a very gritty mentality to defending and attacking. Knowing we have that versatility with her to put her wherever we need her, is exciting."

Hill is a defender from the home state. She plays for Kelly Walsh in Casper.

"Peyton is gritty," Corbin said. "We noticed her defensive presence initially, but she's athletic and she causes people problems. She's super versatile. She can play a lot of different positions, and we are excited to get another Wyoming kid into the fold and continue to build that identity and that culture."

Hadley is a midfielder from Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She played club soccer for Real Colorado Soccer Club.

"Hadley is big, strong and athletic, but also really good with the ball at her feet," Corbin said. "We are looking for her to be dangerous out of the air. We are excited about her playing ability and excited about how she's going to help our midfield. We like to create chances out of the midfield, and Hadley is going to help us do that."

Murry is a goalkeeper out of Lake Tapps, Washington. She played club soccer at Crossfire Premier Soccer Club.

"Rory embodies everything that this program stands for moving forward," Corbin said. "She's competitive, she's energetic, she's excited to learn, and she's going to step in and help push the goalkeeper group to be better right away.

"She's going to add more depth, more talent and more grit to that goalkeeper group."

Quilici Quain is a forward out of Reno, Nevada. She played club soccer for San Juan Soccer Club.

"Bliss is cheeky and crafty," Corbin said. "She has flavor and flare, which helps make forwards special. We are excited for her to get to this environment and allow her to be the forward that she is while also fitting into our system. We are excited for her spark."

Russell is a forward from Powhatan, Virginia. She played club soccer for Richmond Strikers Soccer Club.

"Bella is a workhorse," Corbin said. "She's gritty and she has a nose for scoring goals. Getting her in this environment and allowing her to be a more dynamic forward and to lean into our style of soccer and our brand of soccer, is going to make her more dangerous.

"This environment is going to allow her to generate different types of goal scoring opportunities. I'm excited to see how she flourishes."
