A lighthouse in Jersey will remain floodlit for two more weeks due to popular demand.

Ports of Jersey will light up Corbière lighthouse until 12 May as part of its 150th anniversary.

The extension means it will be illuminated for Liberation Day and National Fishing Remembrance Day.

On 2 May it will be lit in white to mark the funeral of Ann Robins, who died in April when her car fell off a wall at Corbière.

Positive reaction

Harbour Master Captain Bill Sadler said he was "delighted and overwhelmed" by the positive reaction from members of the public.

He said: "I hope this extension will offer more time for people to view the sight in person, while also providing a backdrop to Jersey's national day, and the remembrance day for commercial fishers."

Ports of Jersey thanked the St Brelade's honorary police and residents of the area for supporting the tribute to the lighthouse and its 150 years of service.
