Cops release new video of Trey Songz stadium altercation, accuse him of flouting COVID rules during KC Chiefs game

Police in Missouri released new details and a surveillance video of Sunday’s wild altercation between Trey Songz and a Kansas City officer during the AFC championship game at Arrowhead Stadium.

The caught-on-tape brawl began after fans complained that the R&B star was being disruptive and not following the stadium’s COVID-19 protocols, police said in an update Monday. Arrowhead security was called to the scene three times to address the complaints, but Songz was “not receptive and refused to comply,” according to the newly released video and a police statement that did not mention the singer by name.

A separate cellphone video obtained by TMZ earlier this week showed the Grammy-nominated artist not wearing a mask as he hit a cop and held him in a headlock. The unidentified officer was also not wearing a mask during the scuffle.

Police said the “Bottoms Up” singer had also refused to comply with the stadium’s code of conduct by being intoxicated and using obscene language. Security then asked him to leave multiple times before calling Kansas City police to the scene, the nine-minute surveillance video shows.

The footage does not have audio, but authorities said the officers told him that if he did not leave, he would be arrested for trespassing.

“He still refused to comply at which point officers told him he was under arrest,” Kansas City police said. “The man then punched a police officer and put him in a headlock. Other officers then came to the scene and were able to get the man into custody without further incident.”

Songz, 36, was jailed overnight on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and trespassing. The charges are now under review by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The violent scuffle did not appear to disrupt the game, which ended with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Buffalo Bills for a spot in next month’s Super Bowl.

Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, has posted several photos and videos on Instagram this week, but he has not publicly addressed his arrest.

This is not the first time the actor and musician got into trouble with the law.

In 2016, he was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of property after police tried to shut down one of his concerts in Detroit. He was so enraged that he trashed the stage and hurled objects into the crowd, hitting an officer in the head.

Songz has seen three of his albums hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums, including “Back Home” in 2020. He’s also known for the hits “Neighbors Know My Name,” “Say Aah,” “Na Na” and “Heart Attack.”
