Cool off with a classic at the Paramount Theatre's summer film series starting May 24

Paramount Theatre just announced its lineup for its 50th annual Summer Classic Film Series and it's a good one. Here's what you need to know:

When is the series?

The series will kick off on May 24 with a double feature of "Casablanca" and "Top Hat." The series runs through Sept. 1 and will screen over 120 films including: "The Birdcage," "Dirty Dancing," "The Wizard of Oz," "Grease," "The Bride of Frankenstein," and many more.

What special events are happening during the series?

"Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel will join director Robert Rodriguez at the Paramount on May 25 for the unveiling of Rodriguez' star on Congress Avenue before a screening of "Sin City."

"Hairspray" writer John Waters will join friend John Doe for a Q&A after a double feature of "Pink Flamingos" and "Female Trouble" on June 8.

Austin Public Library and BookPeople are teaming up with the Paramount for "Banned Camp," which will bring movies based on banned books and authors to the theatre. Movies include "American Psycho," "Lolita," "To Kill a Mockingbird," "I Am Not Your Negro," and more.

"RuPaul's Drag Race" drag queen A'Keria C. Davenport will be at the Paramount on June 22 for the Majestic Ball to celebrate national Pride. Davenport will be joined by Diamond Dior Davenport and Legendary Mother Natalie Lepore.
