Constantine, Sturgis baseball teams play to split

STURGIS — The Constantine and Sturgis baseball teams played a split on Saturday.

The Falcons grabbed the win in the opening contest, 7-6. SHS led in the middle part of the game, 3-2, but Constantine scored four times in the sixth and once in the seventh to hold a 7-3 edge. Sturgis then plated three runs in the home half of the seventh, but could not get the tying run across the plate.

Constantine got a pair of hits and two RBIs from Dathan Smith in the game. Alex Brossman also collected a pair of hits and drove in one while Austin Forrester and Jack Larink each had an RBI hit. Logan Kee and Cole Walker both connected on a base hit.

Larink picked up the win, throwing the final two innings. Gaven Lewis and Ivan Baker threw the first five with seven combined strikeouts.

Sturgis collected five hits in the game. Logan Markey's 2-run single brought the Trojans closer in the seventh. Taner Patrick, Carter Oswald and Julien Lambright each had a hit and an RBI while George Bucklin added a hit as well. Gibson Cary was credited with an RBI in the game.

Cary struck out eight batters at the plate. Lambright struck out three for SHS.

The Trojans won the second game, 7-2. They scored five runs the first two innings and added two more in the fourth.

Cary connected for three hits and four runs driven in, Lambright had three hits as well with two RBIs. Patrick, Markey and Oswald each had a hit for the Trojans as well.

Gavin Lewis pitched Sturgis to the win, throwing four innings with five strikeouts. Camden Duffy hurled the final three innings, striking out four.

Caleb Bontrager collected two hits for Constantine. Smith and Lewis each had an RBI hit while Walker and Kee connected for a hit in the game as well.

Marcellus moves to 8-0

The Marcellus baseball team beat Ottawa Hills twice on Saturday, 17-2 and 14-2.

The first game saw Marcellus draw nine walks. C Hackenberg hit a 2-run triple while M Lehew had two RBI as well. A Carlson connected for a hit with A Coffey and B Buck earning an RBI.

Coffer and Parker Adams combined to throw three innings with four strikeouts.

In the second game, Marcellus finished with five hits. Adams, Cole Thornburgh, B McWilliams and Coffey each had RBI hits in the contest.

Buck struck out five to get the win.

Three Rivers wins twice

Three Rivers won a pair of baseball games on Thursday, beating Coldwater 14-4 and 6-5.

Luis Warmack and Connor Penny each had two hits in the game. Drew McClain and Peyton Hradsky both added a hit as well. Drew McClain and Caleb Moore combined to pick up the win on the mound.

Warmack connected for two hits in the second game. Jace Gray, Penny and Hradsky each had a hit as well. Hradsky's hit drove in the winning run.

Mason Awe, Drake Graver and Brayden Balk combined to pick up the win on the mound.

Climax-Scotts tops Colon

The Colon baseball team dropped an 8-1 decision to Climax-Scotts on Friday.

The Magi collected five hits in the game. Dane Borgert, Maverick Downs, Ayden Delp, Dom Mock and Kaleb Thaxton each registered a base hit.

Lawrence, White Pigeon split

The Lawrence and White Pigeon baseball teams spit a pair of games on Thursday.

Lawrence won the first, 10-8. Dace Kochel and Brody Block both had three hits for the Chiefs.

White Pigeon won the second, 7-1. Block struck out nine to earn the win. Kochel had three hits while Clayton Grandstaff, Block and Aiden Jackson each had one hit.
