The Conners renewed for final season
The Conners has been confirmed for a seventh and final season.
The ABC sitcom was heavily expected to end with season 6, but not only has a seventh run been confirmed, but the network has actually released a promo for it.
"You've been part of this family for years. After 6 seasons, be there to say goodbye," the promo states.

Deadline states that the season will be a shorter six episodes, and that it took longer than expected to get a renewal due to John Goodman's time commitments.
The show has had quite a long run considering it was born from the remnants of the Roseanne revival, after the show's lead star Roseanne Barr was fired for making controversial comments on social media.
Even Goodman was surprised by how many seasons The Conners has had, stating last year to France 24 English: "It's lasted longer than I thought we would. It was just supposed to be like an eight-show-and-out thing at one point and they picked us up again and they keep picking us up."
Also last year, one of the show's bosses Bruce Helford explained how star/executive producer Sara Gilbert has been instrumental in pushing for enough time to give the show a proper send-off.

"Sara Gilbert expressed to the network that we don't want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending," he told TVLine.
It is possible that the season 7 renewal and shorter length is down to the strikes in Hollywood last year, as season 6 was just 13 episodes long, compared to the 20/22 episodes of seasons 2 through 5.
The Conners airs on ABC in the United States, and on Sky Comedy in the United Kingdom.
