Concerts and more to do this week in the Finger Lakes

Seems like we were just celebrating the new year; now, daylight saving time nears (March 10), and spring (March 20) is in sight.

With the changes come more things to do in the Finger Lakes.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

1. Environmental writer Dan Egan to give online talk

Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Dan Egan will lead an online discussion at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in an event brought to the region by the Finger Lakes Land Trust and the Finger Lakes Institute. The discussion will focus on the role of phosphorus in daily lives, how it impacts the environment and its role in shaping agriculture. Egan, who for many years covered the Great Lakes for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is the author of “The Devil’s Element: Phosphorus and a World Out of Balance” and “The Death and Life of the Great Lakes.” The discussion will be moderated by Harold van Es, professor of soil and water management at Cornell University.
