A Comprehensive Look at Bad Bunny’s Dating History

Kendall Jenner may be Bad Bunny’s most recent paramour, but the Puerto Rico-born musician was involved in at least two other long-term relationships long before he met the supermodel.
The artist, whose given name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, previously talked about fame and the spotlight seeping into his personal life during a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair. “They don't know how you feel, they don't know how you live, they don't know anything, and I really don't want them to know,” he told the magazine. “I'm not really interested in clarifying anything because I have no commitment to clarify anything to anyone.”
That commitment to personal privacy is clear, given how little is publicly known about his relationships with his exes and his current dating life. Ahead, we list everything we know so far about his dating history.
Kendall Jenner (2023)
The couple first sparked dating rumors in February 2023, when paparazzi captured photos of the two leaving the same restaurant, allegedly following a double date with Hailey and Justin Bieber. A source for People confirmed that the two were “hanging out,” and “having fun,” adding that Jenner thinks “he is different from guys that she dated in the past. He is very charming.” Their romance was confirmed when photos of the two kissing at a Los Angeles parking lot were published the following month.
Soon, the two got a little more comfortable about displaying PDA, even appearing at high-profile events together like the Met Gala after-party and Coachella. Still, they kept mum when it came to talking about each other to the press.
“I know something is going to come out. I know [people are] going to say something. People know everything about me, so what’s left for me to protect? My private life, my personal life,” Benito said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “That’s the only answer. In the end, the only thing I have is my privacy.”
Meanwhile, Jenner remained tight-lipped about Bunny during her Harper’s Bazaar September 2023 cover story, though she did allude to her approach to relationships: “I love really hard, and I love without apology.” She added, “I don’t like goodbyes, and I will fight to not have to say goodbye. I will always fight for relationships. I’ve been that way since I was little, although I was shy and sometimes very closed off. I don’t give up on anything. Some people aren’t willing to meet me at that level. But that’s okay. I’d rather do that than shut myself off to something and not give it a proper chance.”
Despite some reports claiming that the relationship was getting more serious, the two called it quits by the end of the year. “They both knew going into this that it likely wouldn't be a forever type of relationship and that was mutually understood from the get-go,” a source for Entertainment Tonight explained. “They have crazy busy schedules and know they're still young and have a lot more to experience individually before settling down."
Gabriela Berlingeri (2017—2022)
Bunny gave rare insight into his years-long on-and-off relationship with Gabriela Berlingeri, the founder of jewelry brand Diciembre Veintinueve, during a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone. “I met her around three years ago,” he told the magazine. “It was after I sang at a Zion and Lennox concert, here in Puerto Rico. I met her at some restaurant, while I was eating with my parents and my brothers. We started talking and from there, we continued to see each other.”
Bunny and Berlingeri's relationship intensified at the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the couple quarantining together. “Do people really think I’m spending quarantine alone?” the rapper later told Rolling Stone. “No! I am with someone, she is very special in my life. This quarantine has made me understand that she is the best companion I could have.” He added, “I am happy with her. [People] don’t know she has helped me a lot in emotional aspects when I needed it the most.”
The two kept their relationship fairly hush-hush, with the couple not making their first public appearance together until 2020, when they attended a Miami Heat vs. Dallas Mavericks basketball game. The following year, they made their red-carpet debut for the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
In the summer of 2020, rumors of an engagement began to swirl after photos of Berlingeri wearing a diamond ring spread like wildfire across the Internet—but Bunny shut down the rumors with a frank response to Entertainment Tonight. “No, I'm not that married,” he said. “Maybe it can be [an engagement]. But I think that weddings and get[ting] married scare me. A lot.”
However, their romance seemed to reach an end by August 2022, when videos of the musician kissing another woman at a night club in Puerto Rico emerged.
Carliz De La Cruz (2011—2017)
Before he became Bad Bunny, Benito dated Carliz De La Cruz, a fellow student at the University of Puerto Rico, where he studied. Their romance got serious enough that Bunny proposed to De La Cruz in 2016, though they ultimately called off the relationship in 2017.
In March 2023, years after their breakup, De La Cruz sued the rapper for at least $40 million over his use of a voice recording that she provided him prior to his rise to fame. De La Cruz can be heard saying “Bad Bunny, baby” in two of the artist’s songs, “Pa Ti” and “Dos Mil 16.” The lawsuit claims that De La Cruz’s recording has also been used without her consent in various records, promotional activity, concerts, television, radio, and social media platforms, according to the Associated Press.
The lawsuit, which also sues Bunny’s manager Noah Kamil Assad Byrne, states: “Thousands of people have commented directly on Carliz’s social media networks, as well as every time she goes to a public place, about the ‘Bad Bunny, baby.’ This has caused, and currently causes, that De La Cruz feels worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed and anxious.”
The filing alleges that a rep for Bunny reached out to De La Cruz in 2022 in order to sell the recording of her voice to her for $2,000, an offer that she ultimately declined.
