Community, police continue search for 22-year-old Selma woman missing nearly two weeks

Jolissa Fuentes was reported missing in Selma, California, on Aug. 7, 2022.

Police continue searching for Jolissa Fuentes, nearly two weeks after the 22-year-old Selma woman went missing.

Selma Chief of Police Rudy Alcaraz this week said the department had no new information on the case, but that it was conducting searches based on the information it had received and was able to vet.

“We are continuing to compile digital data and working with partner agencies to ensure we are being efficient with our resources,” Alcaraz said.

Fuentes was last seen leaving the AM/PM gas station on Nebraska Avenue in the early morning hours of Aug. 7 and her family reported her as missing later that day. Police put out a call for public help the following day with pictures of Fuentes and her car, a 2011 gray Hyundai Accent with the license plate number 8MPU766.

Fuentes’ family has been active on social media, distributing digital fliers, organizing multiple community search parties and offering a reward for information on the case. As of Wednesday, that reward was up to $10,000.

A “Find Jolissa Fuentes” group has been created on Facebook and Fuentes’ mother, Norma Nuñez, has been keeping daily updates, sharing the latest news on the case, along with pictures of her daughter and requests for continued support.

On Sunday, the family held a prayer vigil at Selma’s Lincoln Park.

Anyone with information about Fuentes can call Selma Police Department detectives at 559-891-2243 or 559-891-2266.
