What’s coming to Middle Georgia? Here’s a look at new, renovated stores and restaurants

A family-owned butcher shop is expected to open soon in Macon, which will be the second of this type of specialty store to open this year in Bibb County.

Also, a popular discount apparel and fashion chain is opening a new location in Perry, while Byron is getting a well-known coffee shop.

Additionally, four restaurant brands new to Warner Robins are in the works, along with a new doughnut shop, an Italian ice shop and the city’s third location of a popular chicken joint. A national retailer also is renovating its Warner Robins store.

Here’s a look

SL Sausage Company — A Macon location of this family-owned butcher shop is expected to open this spring at 5615 Zebulon Road in Macon.

“Our focus is friendly customer service, delicious sausage, mouth-watering jerky and quality meats cut to order,” according to their website.

The store also offers items expected in a country store such as preserves, jams, syrups, cornmeal, sauces and spices. Founded in March 2007 in south Georgia, the main store is in Cordele with additional locations in Leesburg and Valdosta.

Ray’s Donuts — The former Keen’s Cleaners location at 405 North Houston Road in Warner Robins is undergoing a remodel to be transformed into a new doughnut shop. Signs are up announcing what’s coming with the remodeling work in progress.

Ross Dress for Less — A new Middle Georgia location of this national off-price apparel and home fashion store is coming to the Perry Marketplace at 1357 Sam Nunn Blvd. in Perry next to Cato Fashions. Headquartered in Dublin, California, the company bills itself to offer “first-quality, in-season name brand and design apparel, accessories, footwear and home fashions for the entire family” at discounted prices. Perry is also getting a Mavis Tires & Brakes.

Target — This national chain offering furniture, electronics, clothing, groceries and home goods is remodeling select stores across the country, including the Warner Robins location at 2929 Watson Blvd.

While not new, the major top-to-bottom upgrade includes expanded space, modern fixtures, improved guest services and order pickup/drive up. The upgrades also are expected to include the addition of a Starbucks inside as well as showcasing providers like Ulta Beauty. The parking lot is filled with shipping containers with interior remodel work also visible.

Starbucks — A Byron location of this well-known coffee shop is going up near Popeyes on Ga. 49 in Byron with the site preparation underway.

Bojangles — This Southern food chain known for made-from-scratch biscuit breakfast sandwiches, hand-breaded bone-in chicken and iced tea is “opening soon” its third Warner Robins location on Watson Boulevard next to GooGoo Car Wash.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop/Slim Chickens/7 Brew Coffee — Site preparation work continues for these two national brand restaurants and a coffee shop going up on 4.6 acres of vacant property at 4030 Watson Blvd. next to a Holiday Inn Express in Warner Robins. A 7 Brew Coffee also is going up in Macon at 1667 Bass Road.

Kelly Mabie and Brandon Cox, along with their two business partners, Ian Payne and Raymond Kimsey of Premier Contracting Solutions, are the franchisees. Kelly and Brandon also own and operate Mr. Ceiling Fan in Warner Robins.
