SHEBOYGAN — Kohler-Andrae State Park, 1020 Beach Park Lane in Sheboygan, is offering a series of events to get out and enjoy the spring/early summer weather.

A vehicle admission sticker is required for each of these events. For more details, call 920-451-4080.

Here’s what’s coming up:

  • Discovery Bird Walk, 8-10 a.m. May 28: Meet master naturalists Janet and Andy Raddatz to observe birds and nature in the park. Walks may take two to three hours depending on what is seen. Participants can leave at any time. People should wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and take insect repellant, sunscreen and binoculars. The event is for ages 12 and older (children must be accompanied by an adult). No pets allowed. Bird walks meet weekly. Meet at the Black River Trail parking lot, P1.

  • Discovering Wildflowers, 1:30-2:30 p.m. May 29: Join Master Naturalist Karen Merlau and discover the many wildflowers growing along the Black River Trail. As the seasons change, so do the wildflowers. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Take insect repellant, sunscreen, and field guides or apps. The hike will last at least an hour. An adult must accompany children. Meet at the Black River Trail parking lot, P1.

  • Dutch Oven Cooking, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 1: With 30 years of experience cooking with Dutch ovens, Pat and Mike Ward have a wealth of information to share. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Outdoor Shelter near parking lot P8.

  • Music in the Park: Brett Hall, 7-8 p.m. June 1: Join singer and songwriter Brett Hall for an evening of John Denver music and original songs. The program will move inside the Sanderling Nature Center if weather is bad.

The Aurora Health hospitals on America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2024 list are: Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Aurora Sinai Medical Center, Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center - Sheboygan County and Aurora West Allis Medical Center.

Red Cross plans blood drives

American Red Cross is planning the following blood drives in Sheboygan County.

Book a time to give by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

  • May 24 and 31 and June 7, 14 and 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sheboygan Trades and Labor Hall, 1104 Wisconsin Ave., Sheboygan;

  • May 29, 1-5:30 p.m. at Anchor Lanes, 230 N. Lincoln St., Elkhart Lake; and

  • June 11, 12:30-5:30 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 243 S. Fourth St., Cedar Grove.

The Red Cross has teamed up with Tetris, creators of the iconic, best-selling video game, to celebrate their 40th anniversary and build the blood supply for patients in need.
