Columbus Crew vs CF Pachuca: Date set for CONCACAF Champions Cup final

The date is set. The Crew will appear in their club-first CONCACAF Champions Cup final at 9:15 p.m. June 1 against CF Pachuca.

Before the Crew's second leg against CF Monterrey on Wednesday had begun, it was known that it would be impossible for Columbus host the final and that the match would be held at Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca, Mexico if the Crew advanced.

Unlike the previous rounds of Champions Cup play, the final is one match, and the host of the match is determined by which team has the highest ranking in tournament play starting from the Round of 16.

Following Pachuca's 2-0 victory over Club America in the second leg of the semifinals on Tuesday, Pachuca had 14 points, which is based on wins and draws. The Crew had nine points going into the second leg, but only earned only three from their 3-1 defeat of Monterrey, putting them at 12 points.

The final was originally scheduled for June 2, but CONCACAF made the decision to change the date once Pachuca was secured as the host due to it conflicting with Mexico's national elections.

Columbus is set to face Seattle Sounders in MLS regular-season play on June 1 and New England Revolution a week prior on May 29, but those matches are now pending adjustments.
