Columbia restaurant, bowling alley The Grand to reopen after fire. Here’s the timeline
The glasses will be clinking and the bowling pins will soon be falling once again on Columbia’s Main Street.
The Grand on Main, the restaurant, bar and bowling alley at 1621 Main St., is set to reopen Oct. 13 after being closed for nearly two months following a fire. The restaurant announced the reopening on its website.
“We’ve missed you,” the restaurant posted. “The Grand on Main is back and better than ever! Celebrate with us on October 13th for our grand reopening. We thank you for supporting us through this unexpected time. We can’t wait to see you again!”
The Grand temporarily closed after a fire on Aug. 18. The fire started after the restaurant and bowling alley closed for the night. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
A Columbia Fire Department spokesman said at the time that investigators concluded that a malfunctioning oven caught fire and ignited grease in the hood system.
“We are incredibly thankful for the first responders who worked tirelessly to help save our beautiful Grand building in the wee hours of the morning,” the restaurant said in a statement shortly after the blaze.
It looks like it won’t take long for The Grand to get back into special events. On Oct. 20, just a week after the reopening, the spot will host a Bulleit Bourbon Dinner, which will include a four-course meal and four pours of Bulleit bourbon.
The Grand, with its boutique bowling alley and various dining options, opened back in 2017. It is just one of the properties in the portfolio of LTC Hospitality, the company owned by the Middleton family that has been active in Main Street’s revitalization. The company has been expanding its geographic reach recently: It just announced it would develop a barbecue restaurant in Chapin called 518 Smokehouse. It will open in 2023.
