For Colton Sissons, Predators-Canucks Game 5 about 'anger and disappointment' after empty-net miss

Remembering to forget, forgetting to remember — not a realistic expectation for the Nashville Predators or Colton Sissons going into Game 5 of their best-of-7 NHL playoffs series Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks.

Not when it comes to the Sissons pinging the puck off the post of an empty net in the waning minutes of regulation Sunday during a 4-3 overtime loss in Game 4 at Bridgestone Arena.

With his team ahead 3-1. With the possibility of a tied series in the balance.

But will Sissons and the Predators be able to avoid carrying those vibes into the elimination game Tuesday night?

Sissons doesn't think that's necessarily necessary.

"Really just use that anger and disappointment for fuel for tonight," he told The Tennessean's Alex Daugherty on Tuesday morning.

"Certainly an opportunity I wish I had back. No doubt about. These things happen. Sometimes it goes off the post and in. Sometimes it goes out. Can't control that."

Sissons wasn't made available after Sunday's game.

But he made no excuses when it came to his miss and the Predators' collapse.

"I just had an opportunity to put the puck in the empty net," he said. "I was coming down on my off wing and I put it off the post. Not much else to say."

Sissons said his teammates helped him deal with the disappointment of the miss.

"Several of us were disappointed on different levels at the end of the game," he said. "Everyone knows they have the backs of one another in here. It's the kind of bond we've grown this year.

"It was more so moving on."
