Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert escorted out of 'Beetlejuice' musical in Denver

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was escorted from a performance of the musical “Beetlejuice” on Sunday after she was allegedly disrupting other theatergoers during the performance.

An incident report from the Buell Theater in Denver obtained by USA TODAY says two patrons “received three different complaints” and were accused of “vaping, singing, causing a disturbance.”

The patrons, who were not identified in the report, later refused to leave after they were asked to exit the venue, allegedly making statements such as “Do you know who I am?” and “I will be contacting the mayor.”

The Denver Post first confirmed the incident.

Surveillance footage from the theater published by KUSA, an NBC affiliate, shows Boebert and a man being escorted from their seats.

Drew Sexton, Boebert’s campaign manager, confirmed the incident in a statement to multipleoutlets.

“I can confirm the stunning and salacious rumors: in her personal time, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is indeed a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the dismay of a select few, enthusiastically enjoyed a weekend performance of Beetlejuice, which the Denver Post itself described as ‘zany’, ‘outrageous’, and a ‘lusty riot,’” Sexton said in a statement.

Boebert herself shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she “did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud!”

“Everyone should go see it if you get the chance this week and please let me know how it ends!” the Republican lawmaker, who is seeking reelection to her third term, joked.

USA TODAY has reached out to Boebert’s campaign for comment.
