The full details of Nick Saban‘s gigantic contract extension at the University of Alabama have been released.

On Monday, the full terms of the national title-winning head coach were made public. Unsurprisingly, the numbers are very big.

From AL.com:

The headliner, an extended deal for Nick Saban previously announced in June, pushes his contract through February 2029. He’ll continue to make a base $275,000 salary with talent fees starting at $8.4 million in 2021 going all the way up to $11.225 million in the 2028 season.

All told, Saban’s new contract is worth $84.8 million over eight years for an average of $10.6 million a year.

It’s worth it, obviously.

College football fans are in near-unanimous agreement that Saban is worth every penny of his new contract.

“Might be underpaid you have the most dominant football program and at least someone from every in coming class has a ring that’s BIG TIME!!” one fan tweeted.

“These “omg it’s just football game” comments are sad. This man and the football program help fund almost every other sports program (men and women) on campus. The ROI on this man is a steal. Roll Tide!” another fan added.

“What a steal for $10.6 mill a year!! The man is worth double that!!!” one fan wrote.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said earlier this year that Saban might be the most underpaid coach in sports history.

“Not only is he the greatest coach of all-time, but he’s still the greatest coach today. He’s making eight or nine million dollars a year. If he was on Wall Street, he’d be making $150 million a year, maybe even more,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “He’s the most underpaid, undervalued coach in the history of sports.”

It’s tough to argue against that considering everything Saban has done at Alabama.

The Crimson Tide will open their national title defense season on Saturday, Sept. 4 against Miami.
